Illustration

Illustration is the art of turning your concepts, narratives and messages into images that belong entirely to you. For purpose-driven organisations, it opens a valuable space of expression: depicting desirable futures, making complex subjects legible, building a visual world that looks like no one else.

It is also a powerful lever of differentiation. In a sector where many organisations draw from the same visual resources, bespoke illustration immediately establishes a recognisable identity. As Big Duck, a New York agency specialised in nonprofit communication, notes, illustration has the unique ability to create a signature emotion and reflect a brand’s personality in a way that is hard to achieve otherwise.

Our approach

We do not impose a style on your project. We start from your intention, your audience and the message you want to carry, then we explore the styles that can serve them.

This exploration phase is essential. Realism, vector illustration, expressive linework, editorial treatment, comic-strip register, geometric abstraction, collage, papercraft, textured rendering: each style tells a different story and creates a different relationship with the subject. A sensitive, organic line does not say the same thing as a minimalist vector illustration, even on the same topic. The right choice depends on your brand, your audience and the effect you want.

Once the direction is validated, our illustrators move into the final rendering. Details, textures, light, composition: every element is worked to give the image its full presence.

We also work on consistency over time. If your illustrations are meant to live across several campaigns, several supports, several years, we design a system flexible enough to evolve and precise enough to remain recognisable.

What illustration can do for you

Make complex subjects legible: public policies, scientific mechanisms, systemic data, user journeys. A good illustration turns the abstract into the obvious.

Approach sensitive subjects with care. Health, poverty, violence, migration, human rights: illustration allows you to depict human situations with sensitivity, while keeping your organisation in full control of what is shown.

Build a visual world of your own. A coherent illustration series becomes a recognition signal as strong as a logo. Transport for London showed this with its 25th anniversary campaign, commissioning an illustrator to reinterpret its iconic cultural references and creating a campaign that was immediately identifiable and unifying (Creative Boom, October 2025).

Give shape to a brand narrative. When your organisation carries a vision (a possible world, a transition, a reform), illustration can literally draw that future. It is one of the most powerful levers of the Magician archetype, and one of the most demanding to handle.

Where we play

Covers and interiors of reports, books and magazines. Campaign posters and event visuals. Social media posts and editorial illustrations for the web. Infographics and meaningful data visualisations. Illustrations for newsletters and emailings. Packaging and advocacy materials. Characters, mascots or iconographic systems unique to your organisation.
